Jewellery Fashion Trends To Look Out for in 2020
Published date: 16 February 2020
With spring around the corner, designers and fashionistas are beginning to get playful with colour, oversized statement pieces and jewellery that gives a nod to wellbeing and a peaceful state of mind. Here, we take a look at the key jewellery fashion trends hitting the runways and the great British high street, as well as consider our own celebrity-endorsed favourites.
Green with Envy
The colour of the season is green and the celebs seen at the recent Grammy awards have wasted no time in demonstrating how it can be styled. Malachite would be a great match in gemstone form with jade and fluorite also topping the trend. Great for most skin tones, green is a seasonal spring favourite. Check out our selection of gemstone beads and cabochons to stay on trend and in fashion.
Statment style is on
The oversized chain with large links in gold is popping up everywhere. The A/W runway shows of Dior and Chanel loved this fashion trend. You can recreate your own more wearable designs with any chunky chain and don’t forget to layer it up and add adornments.
Pearls
A strong look for this year, pearls – particularly freeform and baroque – are really helping to update a timeless look. They’re intrinsically classic and feminine but this year, it’s a case of ‘the bigger, the better’ where pearls are concerned. Gone is the preppy pearl style known by most and in its place are fashion statement pieces with oversized freeform pearls.
Interlocking and Layered Rings
Thin plain bands layered up on multiple fingers or geometric interlocking designs are high-street jewellers’ favourite right now. This trend presents a fun way to wear fashion rings – stack, layer and style to create a unique look that’s simply inimitable. An extremely versatile trend, it enables wearers to experiment with their own style and achieve very different looks.
Dainty and delicate
With this trend, discretion is everything. We’re talking miniature charms, mini studs and mini beads with tiny pendants worn choker-style. Think floaty, simple and minimal pieces worn individually on a very fine chain. The best bit about understated jewellery is it works just as well for everyday wear as it does for evening wear.
Spiritual Jewellery
Whether it be celestial stars, birthstones and star signs, tree of life or chakra, some people like to feel a connection to a higher being when they wear jewellery. There’s a strongly upheld belief the right jewellery can bring luck or even cure certain superstitions. Discover more about the seven chakras.
