Gimp also known as French wire is a very fine spiral of wire (this Gimp is spun on a no 5 needle) that can be used on a necklace end to stop the beading thread rubbing and fraying against a harder surface such as a jump ring or clasp and create a neater finish. This gold plated gimp is approximately 1mm wide and is supplied in various lengths in a 10 gram bag (approx. 6-7 lengths). This has a copper base and is gilt plated with 5 grams of gold per kg using 24kt purity level.
